WHAT'S THIS?

This page serves as a showcase for the original Star Wars Craft (Vehicles, Starships, etc.) that I create for my games as well as stats for existing Craft in the SW Universe. For each Craft, I have included a write up, a picture, the actual SW Universe craft specifications, and game stats. I have also included a separate page dedicated exclusively to TIE variants.

ARC-170
ARC-170     Late in the Clone Wars, the proven design teams at the Incom Corporation and Subpro combined efforts and created a new starfighter with impressive capabilities. The ARC-170 (Aggressive ReConnaissance) was a good deal larger than most starfighters. The extra room was used for a massive power core capable of fueling a set of Dyne-262 sublight engines and an array of blaster cannons covering both the front and rear of the vessel. The ship was crewed by specially trained clones, one serving as a dedicated pilot and two others manning the guns. An astromech droid was also included to provide astro-navigational data and assist in combat operations.

AZURE ANGEL
Anakin's Jedi Starfighter     The Clone Wars were a trying time for Anakin Skywalker, as he faced ceaseless warfare on scattered worlds while struggling to keep his marriage a secret, and chafing under the restrictions of the Jedi order. He found escape in his childhood love of flight, and in the simple joy of tinkering with machinery. The end result of these two passions was a heavily modified starfighter exclusive to the Chosen One.
Anakin's starfighter began as a standard Delta-7 Aethersprite that he extensively customized to suit his demanding tastes for speed and control. With four Taim & Bak laser cannons bracketing each wingtip and a proton torpedo launcher along the ship's dorsal centerline, the speedy combat vessel had greater firepower than the standard fighter. Anakin's fighter underwent numerous modifications in its lifetime, meaning that its performance varied depending on its latest features or what tricked-out power plant it sported.
Obi-Wan Kenobi was concerned that his Padawan was regarding this special project as a possession -- something frowned upon by the Jedi order. Jedi Master Saesee Tiin, a skilled starfighter pilot, encouraged the young man to keep pushing the fighter's limits, since he hoped to see the improvements pioneered by Skywalker integrated into the next generation of Jedi starfighter. Despite the Jedi mandate of severing all ties to his previous life, Anakin raised a few concerned eyebrows by including a paint scheme similar to the one used in his beloved Podracer.
Since the varied campaigns of the Clone Wars saw atmospheric combat as well as spaceflight, Anakin incorporated articulated stabilizer foils to assist in maneuverability. The main vectored thrusters included articulated mounts that allowed for greater aerial agility. Perhaps his boldest addition was a pair of TransGalMeg hyperdrive thrusters that gave his starfighter limited hyperspace capability. (From the starwars.com Databank).

GEONOSIAN STARFIGHTER
Geonosian Starfighter     A lean, needle-nosed fighter-craft with a distinct alien heritage, the starfighters of the Geonosians are small, compact vessels of great speed and superior agility. A single Geonosian pilot sits within the cramped cockpit, his head poking up to peer out of a bubble canopy allowing a 360-degree field of vision. Cradled within the forward needles of the ship is a turret-mounted laser cannon. When Count Dooku fled the first engagement of the Clone Wars, a pair of Geonosian starfighters provided escort and covering fire. HAET-221
HAET-221     Built by Mekuun, the High-Altitude Entry Transport HAET-221 is a drop ship used by the Army of the Republic. Launched from low orbit, the craft is capable of entering the atmosphere, burning through its high-energy shielding system as it sheds off reentry heat. Upon reaching the lower atmosphere, its repulsorlift units kick in, providing it impressive flight capability, but the craft cannot re-achieve orbital flight ceilings.
Powerful positional rockets help the HAET-221 reach its target drop site, as does a sophisticated targeting array that quickly maps a planet's topographical features. This mapping system also serves in reconnaissance and search missions, which the HAET-221 can perform at varying heights -- from lofty flight ceilings of several kilometers to a more common cruising height of just a few meters. JEDI INTERCEPTOR
Jedi Interceptors     The compact Jedi Interceptor is one of the lightest and most agile fighters designed in millennia. Barely larger than a typical airspeeder, the Eta-2 Actis improves on the already impressive speed and maneuverability of the older Delta-7 Aethersprite.
Because of its small size, the Eta-2 lacks heavy flight instruments, sensors, and shields. Despite the size and power of its laser cannons, their capacitors are modest and limit any continuous fire. These drawbacks would be seen as serious weaknesses to most pilots, but then, most pilots aren't Jedi.

K-WING PROTOTYPE
K-Wing     The K-Wing is a bomber that was developed by the New Republic about twelve years after the Battle of Endor. From the front, the K-Wing resembles the letter K, lying on its long side. The central fuselage is studded with four wings: two larger wings extend upward, while the shorter wings at the bottom act as landing skids. The four wings have eighteern unique positions, which can be adjusted depending on weaponry and payload. It has three primary thrust engines, two on the lower wings and one at the rear of the fuselage. The two-seated fighter was flown by a pilot and a gunner and a bomber, and was designed to fly in gravity-dense arenas. The K-Wing has no hyperdrive, being an atmospheric bomber. It primary mission is as a bomber, and it is the equal of the TIE Bomber in armament. It can also be armed to the teeth as a starfighter, but the ship suffers in maneuverability when more weapons are added. Thus, it is not a ship for dogfighting. It was first tested by the crew of the Monitor, and was first assigned to active duty with Task Force Quickfire. It first saw combat with the Fifth Battle Group near Bessimir.
The K-wing is a smaller, faster heavy bomber than the B-wing, with a heavier payload. Unlike the B-wing, however, this new starfighter is not nearly as heavily armored and shielded, but it is still a formidable opponent in battle. The K-Wing was in the prototype stage just before the Battle of Endor.

K-WING
K-Wing     Designed to be used in conjunction with the New Republic Fifth Fleet, the K-Wing is a heavily armed starfighter in the tradition of the Y-Wing. The K-Wing was designed as a close-range, precision bomber of planetary targets, space stations, and slow-moving captial ships.
The K-Wing possesses two maneuvering wings that give its distinctive "K" look. Two thrust turbines are located at the junction of the upper and lower wings and provide sublight speeds comparable to the Y-Wing. A second thruster is fixed above and between these main ones to provide a quick boost in acceleration. Unfortunately, the K-Wing lacks a hyperdrive and must rely on a carrier ship.
Breaking from traditional starfighter designs, the K-Wing has 18 hardpoints along its wings to allow for a variety of different missile weapons. These weapons are typically supported by underwing pylons instead of actual launchers. A standard weapons configuration involves concussion missiles, flechette missiles, proton torpedoes, a short-range quad turbolaser turret under the nose of the craft, and a medium-range twin laser cannon located just behind the double cockpits.
The K-Wing requires a dedicated gunner, in addition to the pilot, in order to take full advantage of all its weapon systems. Both pilot and gunner sit beneath individual canopies on the command module.
In an emergeancy, the command module can separate from the craft and act as an escape pod.

MANDALORE'S FIST
The personal starship of the ex-Mandalorian commando, Deacon Mortua, the Mandalore's Fist is a modified MandalMotors Striker-class scout ship. Deacon obtained the sleek craft from MandalMotors at an incredible discount soon after the Mandalorians were wiped out on Galidraan. The company feared that the defeat of the Mandalorians would affect sales so, when Deacon approached them to purchase a ship, they took advantage of the situation to rally around "the last Mandalorian" (according to the company's sales pitch).
The Striker scout ship is a fast and maneuverable exploration starship that can carry 20 tons of cargo and has room enough for a single passenger (in addition to the pilot). In its orginal configuration, the ship sports powerful sublight engines, civilian-grade deflector shields, a Class 3 hyperdrive generator, advanced navigational systems (+2 on Astrogation checks), and a single light laser cannon. The Mandalore's Fist has been fitted with greater armor, a military-grade deflector shield, a Class 1 hyperdrive generator, a sensor-jamming system, a HoloNet transceiver, upgraded fire control system, a consealed medium ion cannon, a pair of concussion missile launchers, and retratctible fire-linked heavy laser cannons.

R-41 STARCHASER
R-41 Starchaser     An outdated form of starfighter, the R-41 Starchaser is a favorite among pirates, but is still in limited use among the New Republic. These insectile ships are sleek, 15-meter-long fighters armed with 2 laser cannons and 2 ion cannons, with minimal 30-SBD shields protecting a 15-RU hull. These weak defenses and low maneuverability make the R-41 an easy target for most current starfighters.
Similiar to the Z-95 Headhunter, it is inexpensive and can be found throughout the galaxy. Ion cannons and slightly higher shield strength are the R-41's slight advantages over the Z-95. The R-41 is not normally equipped with a warhead launcher, although they can be installed to increase the R-41's firepower tremendously. The R-41 was a favorite starfighter of the Rneeki Pirates and was the mainstay of their small fleet. The ion cannons served them well since the Rneeki could use them to capture ships, their primary means of aquiring their fleet. The Rneeki were known to lay Type-B ion cannon mine fields around hyperspace nav bouys with the intent of disabling ships for capture. (From the TIE Fighter Technical Database)

TECHNOUNION STARFIGHTER
TechnoUnion Starfighter     Developed by Feethan Ottraw Scalable Assemblies, the Mankvim-814 light interceptor is mass-manufactured by automated factories designed by the TechnoUnion. The Confederacy established such a plant on Utapau during their occupation of the planet, ensuring a steady supply of aerial defense for their latest of temporary refuges.
The Mankvim-814 is simplistic in its engineering -- a central reactor feeds power and plasma to a high-velocity ion-drive. A magnetized rudder vectors the flow of the ion thrust while smaller side thrusters further assist maneuverability. The reactor also powers the twin laser cannons that arm the craft.
The factories that produce the fighter do not manufacturer pilot droid brains, so the TechnoUnion starfighter is not self-piloted. Instead, it includes a cockpit typically manned by a standard B1 battle droid.

TRI-FIGHTER
Tri-Fighter     When the Separatists attacked Coruscant in the twilight of the Clone Wars, they employed as many different and cutting edge combat starship designs as they could to better the chances of victory in their most bold and daring strike. Swarming from the hangar bays of Confederacy battleships were tri-fighters, automated starfighters equipped with groupings of four blaster cannons. The bracing arms surrounded a rotating gyroscopic ball that housed the droid's brain.
The fully automated tri-fighter is bigger and less maneuverable than the slim vulture fighters, but nonetheless posed a threat, particularly to the slower ARC-170 fighters.

V-19 TORRENT
V-19 Torrent Starfighter     Prototypes of the Slayn and Korpil V-19 Torrent starfighter were first introduced at the Battle of Geonosis. Having proven their worth as an assault fighter with exceptional speed and maneuverability, the Republic quickly produced V-19s to add to the arsenal of the growing clone army. Because of the months of training it took for the Republic's clone trooper pilots to become proficient with the vessel, the fighter was not available in large numbers for some of the early engagements of the war, but they made a prominent showing during the Battle of Muunilinst.
Initially designed as a short-range fighter, Republic technicians later added a Class-1 hyperdrive to equip the vessel for escort missions. The ship is unique in that it has two pairs of folding airfoils that give the ship added maneuverability and provides pilots with easy access to the ship's sliding canopy. The lower split airfoils coupled with enhanced repulsorlift engines make the ship an exceptional vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) fighter.

VULTURE DROID
Vulture Droids     The effectiveness of droid starfighters has been debated in strategic circles for generations. While droid starfighters are capable of maneuvers that would pulp even the sturdiest organic pilot, they lack the resourcefulness and cunning that living pilots bring into combat. During the Battle of Naboo the Trade Federation attempted to counter any shortcomings in their automated vulture droid designs by dispatching them en masse. Swarms of the tiny fighters were launched from their battleship's cavernous hangars, attacking the small number of Naboo starfighters defending the planet.
Like the ground-based battle droid infantry, droid starfighters are controlled by the Trade Federation's Droid Control Ship. When not in flight, the droid starfighter can transform into a walking mode allowing them to be used in surface patrols.
As the Clone Wars erupted, and the Trade Federation became one of the founding members of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, they supplied their vulture droids to the growing Separatist fleet. Painted with the blue and white hexagonal sigils of the Confederacy, vulture droids would plague Jedi and clone pilots on many battlefronts, including the decisive Battle of Coruscant.

V-WING STARFIGHTER
V-Wing Starfighter     The Alpha-3 Nimbus Starfighter is a sturdy, wedge-shaped starfighter similar to the Delta-7 Aethersprite Interceptors employed by the Jedi Order. It was manufactured by Kuat Systems Engineering which was also the company responsible for the Delta-7 "Jedi starfighter." The V-wings also feature folding wing radiators similar to those fitted to the later Eta-2 Actis Interceptors. Nestled between each wing and the hull are two twin laser cannons. These deadly weapons swivel on the vessel's wing hubs to provide a wide range of fire. Aft of the starfighter's main hull are two deflector shield heat sinks, located above the two vertically-stacked ion drive thrusters. These flaps also provide some protection for the V-wing's clone pilot.
In keeping with the design of the Delta-7, the Alpha-3 features an astro-droid socket aft of the oval cockpit. V-wing pilots are often assisted by spherical Q7-series astromech droids which provide in-flight navigation and maintenance skills that would otherwise require a copilot—which the compact V-wing could not accommodate. As the V-wing starfighter is too small to feature an integrated hyperdrive, it requires either transportation into combat zones by carriers such as the Venator-class Star Destroyer, or the use of a hyperdrive booster rings as with other Republic starfighters, including the Delta-7 Aethersprite.
V-wing fighters are often unleashed from warship hangars in large swarms and were one of the most numerous starfighters in the Old Republic. While they lack the power of the ARC-170 fighter, they make up for it in speed and agility. V-wings are speedy and evasive targets, even for the advanced Tri-Droid Fighters used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Mass-produced for Loyalist forces, V-wings participate in large-scale fleet operations or assist in the defense of Republic worlds during the Clone Wars.

WRAITH
Wraith     The versatile, one man Wraith fighters are a new addition to the Colonial space forces. Traditionally, most space battles took place between the large capitol ships and medium gunships, but Tarsonian technicians found that small, dynamic high-speed fighters could repeatedly deal damage to large ships while still evading most defensive battery attacks. The Wraith is armed with both air-to-air missiles and a versatile burst laser for ground attacks, and is equipped with the latest in ECM and Stealth technology.

Note: When cloaked, it is impossible to detect the Wraith from longer than medium range using sensors; this gives a -10 penalty to Spot, Search, and Computer Use checks made to find it. Even if detected, an attacker suffers a 40% chance of missing his target (as if the ship were always behind nine-tenths cover). Wraiths can only remain cloaked for 10 minutes at a time.
